Art on Ice
Number 1 in the World
Emeli Sandé will be guest starring in Art on Ice in March 2018 in Zurich, Lausanne and Davos. Further protagonists in the show are the Swiss band Pegasus and on the ice Stéphane Lambiel and Evgeni Plushenko. The show is entitled “The Original”.
In 2012 Emeli Sandé launched her first album “Our Version of Events”. It led the British charts for seven weeks and stayed in the top 10 for an incredible 63 weeks. The album sold approximately 4.6 million copies. Sandé’s most well known song “Read All About It” went around the world.
Laura Bretan: Well-known experts prophesized that the young soprano known from “America’s Got Talent” would one day be more successful than Maria Callas was, the opera star of the 20th century.
Tina Guo, acoustic/electric cellist: She gained notoriety as a member of composer Hans Zimmer’s band. The maestro had this to say about: “When she picks up her cello, the instrument becomes a sword.”
Evgeni Plushenko, the ice czar will be performing as an active figure skater for the last time in Switzerland.
Art on Ice without Stéphane Lambiel? As a matter of fact, one can hardly imagine it. The skater from Wallis will be a part of the ensemble for the 16th time in 2018 – appearing as the big crowd favorite.
They had already risen to Olympic fame in their careers having won gold at the Olympic Games – the US American ice dance pair Meryl Davis & Charlie White and the Russian pair skating married couple Tatiana Volosozhar & Maxim Trankov.
The third pair enriching Art on Ice 2018 is the wonderful Aliona Savchenko & Bruno Massot. Aliona & Bruno won the silver medal at the Worlds 2017, the bronze medal at the Worlds 2016 and are the silver medalists of the Europeans 2017 and 2016. The duo has enormous potential and we all hope to have them in Switzerland with an Olympic medal.

“The Original” – with Wolfgang Beltracchi
The Art on Ice Show 2018 has been given the title “The Original”. And it is all about art. What is art? Who is art? Art on Ice for this is inspired by this story of Wolfgang Beltracchi.
For years together with his wife Helene, the painter Wolfgang Beltracchi led the art market by the nose. The German painted in the style of the grand masters and signed his works with their signatures to bring them to the market place as previously unknown works of art. In 2010 his plan blew up and a court condemned Beltracchis to six and four years imprisonment. Today, free once again, the Beltracchi’s lives in Switzerland. The shrewd art forger of modern times is still painting but this time around singing his own name to his works.
For “The Original” works by Wolfgang Beltracchi will be used as stage backdrops. In March Art on Ice will show itself off as a world of art, as an exhibit of art from various periods.
